Each year, FDR sends 25 girls to Delaware Valley University for a #girlSTEM conference to explore different careers that they can pursue in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field. This is always a great opportunity for girls who are interested in going into a STEM career to get more information from people who are actually working in those jobs. #girlSTEM features interactive seminars with professional women, hands-on workshops, and open forum discussions.

In order to attend the field trip, the FDR Science teachers selected girls who they thought would benefit the most from this amazing opportunity. The girls then got to pick different sessions that they wanted to take part in. Session topics included “The Chemistry Magic Show,” “Emergency Medicine: From Home to Hospital,” and “Constructing STEM: An Introduction to Electronics.” The girls learned so much and they had a great time. They represented FDR and made our district proud!
